Use Custom Integrations to Eliminate Data Silo

In the world of pharmacy, infusion and specialty pharmacy, there are many different “systems” that are used to bring a patient from intake to discharge. The patient journey has a lot of steps, many of which are recorded in different types of systems. When a care coordinator is processing intake, they may be using a hospital or dispensing system. The referring provider keeps their clinical information in an electronic medical record. Once the drugs and supplies are shipped the shipping details are housed in UPS or FedEx’s system. All the patient’s vital information is stored in separate systems that don’t work together. We refer to this problem as a data silo. A data silo is where important, but related data are stored in different systems that do not work together.

We believe that you know your business best and that no two businesses are going to operate the same. This is why we approach data silos with custom integrations. Like our automation solution, Custom Integrations always start with listening. Before recommending any type of Custom Integration it is important that we understand your current processes and goals. When we know where you’re coming from and where you’re going, it helps us to understand which data silos need to be connected and which type of customer integration will work best. There are a few different ways to accomplish a custom integration. We can use application programing interfaces (API) to make systems talk to each other in a custom manner. When used, this can make information move from one system into the right area of another system. Another method is to create web overlay’s where data is pulled from one or more systems and then consolidated into a single web portal. This allows users to see and use data from multiple sources in one location.

If you find yourself accessing several systems daily to accomplish a larger goal, you may be struggling with a data silo scenario. We’d love to discuss this struggle with you and provide recommendations on how to utilize custom integrations to bring your data together. Schedule a call with us today!
