Simplified Historical Data Conversion

If you’ve been in business for any length of time, it’s likely that you have experienced some sort of system migration. All pharmacy dispensing systems house the same types of data, they house referral data, payor data, order data, patient data and clinical data sets. For an end user these front-end systems may all look similar, but on their back ends, no two systems store data in the same manner. This means, you can’t simply pull the data from one system and insert it into another. Complicated conversions need to be made in order to extract the data and make it compatible with the table structures of the new system. When a new dispensing system is implemented, a decision about historical data is always necessary. Sometimes it is necessary to convert all the data to the new system, but often only a portion of the data is converted. This could be because the data is very old, or it could be because of data integrity issues. If there is unconverted historical data though, it is likely left unusable.

Data conversion for insertion into a new system isn’t the only option. A dynamic data conversion is where the data is moved from its unusable state to an unrelated, but easily accessible state where it can be sorted, filtered and cleaned up for future queries and use. If you find yourself in a position where you’ve got old data that you need to access and use, but no longer store it in a usable manner, you should reach out to us to discuss your options for dynamic data conversion today.
